Whangarei Museum
The Whangarei Museum is as rich and varied as the history of the area. Relying on donations rather than purchasing its possessions, the collections vary greatly and include Maori and European artefacts spread throughout buildings on 25 hectares of land. Buildings include a Blacksmith's shop, Woolshed, and Cowshed.

Claphams Clock Museum
What time is it? Visitors won't have difficulty finding out with over 1500 clocks ticking, chiming and cuckooing at this unusual museum. Pieces include a 200-year-old tower clock, water clocks, candle clocks, gravity clocks and more. The onsite gift shop has almost as many clocks for sale.
